Andover Hotel False Alarm

The smoke detectors were activated when a waste basket in a guest's room ignited from the ashes of a cigarette. The fire suppressant system in this Andover Hotel was chemical based, not a sprinkler system. The advantage is no water damage to the commercial grade carpeting or the ceiling and walls of the corridors. Our SERVPRO fire & smoke restoration technicians isolated both ends of the corridor with poly material and disabled the HVAC system for several hours to prevent circulation of the dust throughout the hotel. We then used HEPA filtered vacuums to suction the dust from the carpet and sponges from the hard surfaces.
